A Young, Handsome Black-Crowned Night Heron

Back to the Bog Garden watching this forager…  Juvenile black night herons are mostly brown, with heavy striping and pale spots, but as they grow towards the adult, plumage colors become more solid.  Prey includes small fish, crabs, crayfish, snakes, amphibians, small rodents, insects and sometimes plant matter.
