Historical Keeseville, NY

I created this panoramic scene of 8 images in order to show both the flow of the Ausable River and the back of one of Keeseville’s historical buildings.

Some facts:

The Eagle Horse Nail Company was where iron making was revolutionized by a blacksmith who invented a horse nail making machine that could manufacture 200 lbs of nails in the same amount of time previously needed to make 10 lbs by hand.

For the photographers and Civil War buffs out there, Keeseville is the birthplace of Civil War photographer William Henry Jackson, who achieved national and international fame as a frontier photographer and as an accomplished American painter. He was an explorer and photographer whose photographs of the American frontier are famous, the glass negatives of which are housed in museums around the U.S.  Jackson joined the U.S. Army in 1862 and was present at the Battle of Gettysburg.
