Trick of Nature? Green Flash? Another “Independence Day” Movie?

In yesterday’s post, I touched on the subject of the atmospheric phenomena known as the green flash that typically occurs just before sunrise or after a sunset.  While I understand Wikipedia is overused and overrated, a need to know now forced me to read further: “They (green flashes) usually are seen at an unobstructed horizon, such as over the ocean, but are possible over cloud tops and mountain tops as well.”

What do you make of this?  While the tropical storm was stirring up storms and winds, this occurred just after sunrise.  The 3 shots were taken within seconds; now you see it, now you don’t.  Other than minimal adjustments, no other color editing was done.  I thought it could be a raindrop or something on the lens, but the lens was clean and it wasn’t raining at the time.

They make movies right down the road in Wilmington…  Or, we’re not alone…  Or, it really was just a cool green flash or weird rainbow in the clouds…
